Matt Wolfe Named WAC Cross Country Athlete of the Week

DENVER - Louisiana Tech junior Matt Wolfe was named the Western Athletic Conference Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week leading into Tech hosting the WAC Championships this weekend.

Wolfe, a junior from Bossier City, La., finished third overall at the Demon Invitational with a three-mile time of 15:17.2 as the Bulldogs finished second at the meet, their highest finish of the season. Tech had four runners finish in the top 11 and as a team placed only seven points behind host Northwest­ern State in the team standings. This marks the third meet this season that Wolfe has led the Bulldog cross country runners.

Louisiana Tech hosts the WAC Cross Country Championships Saturday at Lincoln Parish Park. The women’s 5k race will begin at 9 a.m. with the men’s 8k race starting at 10 a.m. Admission to the meet is free.
