
![]() Louisiana Tech Hosts WAC Cross Country Championships Saturday

RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech will host the Western Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships Saturday morning at Lincoln Parish Park. The women’s event – a 5-kilometer race – will start at 9 a.m. with the men’s event – an 8-kilometer race – starting at 10 a.m. Admission to the championship meet is free of charge and the WAC will have official championship merchandise available for purchase. Matt Wolfe leads the Bulldog runners after being named the WAC Athlete of the Week. The Bossier City native finished third overall at the Demon Invitational three-mile run with a time of 15:17, marking the third meet this season that Wolfe has led the Tech men. Mary Kate Hays has led the Lady Techsters in every meet this season including at the recent Demon Invitational, where she ran 20:40 to finish 17th overall in the three-mile race. Also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council, Hays guides a Techster squad that is hosting its first conference meet since the 2010 WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The WAC Cross Country Championships are one of two conference championship events Louisiana Tech will host in Ruston this academic calendar year. Tech will also host the WAC Softball Championship on May 8-11, 2013.
