RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech's cross country squads are gearing up to compete this weekend when the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters travel to Clinton, Mississippi, this Saturday, Oct. 28 for the 2017 Conference USA Cross Country Championships.

The 2017 C-USA Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Southern Miss at Choctaw Trails in Clinton, Mississippi. Both the men and women have competed at Choctaw Trails twice this season, including when both of LA Tech's teams recorded first place finishes in the Watson Ford Invitational earlier this month.

This weekend's C-USA Championships are set to begin at 9 a.m. Saturday with the men's 8k race, while the women's 5k race is set to follow at 10 a.m. that morning.

"We have two very young teams with our men and women that have worked hard this season," head coach Gary Stanley said of Saturday's race. "We have one senior on the women's side, while there are no seniors for the men and five freshmen, but we are excited to run and compete in this weekend's championship meet."

The Bulldogs enter the C-USA Championships led by redshirt freshman Conner Killian, who has recorded three top-10 finishes on the season, while sophomore Austin Ballow has also been LA Tech's top individual in two of the four races this season.

On the women's side, junior Kacie Kaufman leads the way for the Lady Techsters as the Loveland, Colorado, native enters the competition having recorded three straight top five finishes in LA Tech's last three races. LA Tech sophomore Elia Nero also enters this weekend's C-USA Championships with a trio of top-10 finishes on the season.
