Brown Leads Tech at SBC Cross Country Championships
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Oct. 28) - Louisiana Tech junior Brandon Brown finished 12th to lead the Bulldogs to a fifth place finish at the Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Championships in Little Rock Saturday.
Brown, who has paced the Tech men all fall, completed the 8,000-meter event with a time of 26:30. Andrew Bipella finished 27th with a time of 27:22, while Chris Anderson was 30th at 27:31.
Other Bulldog competitors were Sam Navarro in 31st (27:34), Karl Stavenberg in 32nd (27:36), Kyle Odom in 39th (28:03) and Matt Carroll in 54th (28:47).
A total of 79 men's competitors competed in the championship.
The Bulldogs finished with a team total of 132. North Texas captured the men's championship with 56 points, while Western Kentucky (66), Arkansas-Little Rock (119) and Middle Tennessee (121) all finished ahead of Tech.
On the women's side, Jessalyn Adams placed 58th to pace the Lady Techsters, who finished 11th among the 12 teams. Adams finished the 5,000-meter run with a time of 21:40.
Other Lady Techster finishers were Julie Richardson in 60th place (21:45), Lisa Graves in 61st (21:46), Angela Ryder in 67th (22:04), Brooke Sims in 69th (23:16), Michelle Leim Kohler in 72nd (23:33) and Melissa Trahan in 73rd (24:02).
A total of 79 student-athletes competed on the women's side.
New Orleans captured the women's championships with a team total of 31, while Western Kentucky and Arkansas-Little Rock finished second and third.
