Nick Grunenwald ranks fourth in LA Tech history with 52 career stolen bases

2009: Named Academic All-WAC...Played in 50 games, while starting 49...Finished second in conference in sacrifice bunts (11) and stolen bases (19) during all games...Began the season as Tech's starting shortstop then moved to center field and played the position flawlessly...Went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, three RBI, a walk and two stolen bases in the series opener against Eastern Michigan (3/6)...In each of the following three contests, he totaled two RBI (3/7-3/10)...Matched his career-high of four hits and four runs scored against Houston Baptist (3/22)...Put together a 12-game hitting streak, his longest of his career (4/11-4/27)...During the stretch, he batted .417 (20-for-48)...Was 19-for-25 in stolen bases...Stole two bases in three different games...Did not commit a single error from his outfield position...Ended his career tied for fourth in Tech history with 52 stolen bases.

2008: Named Academic All-WAC...Reached on-base safely in each of the first seven games of the season...Went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBIs, a double and a stolen base in a 17-0 win vs. McNeese State (2/24)...Went 4-for-5 with 3 runs, an RBI, a double, a home run and a stolen base in a 11-6 vs. Tennessee-Martin (3/16)...Had 15 multi-hit games...Hit a home run in back-to-back games against Tennessee-Martin (3/15 & 3/16)...Hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth against Hawaii (4/27)...Bulldogs added five more runs and won the game, 10-9...Stole three bases in game one of a 5-4 win at New Mexico State (5/16)...Led the WAC in stolen bases during conference games (10) and tied for first in conference in stolen bases (20) during all games...Finished season third on the team in batting average (.305) and hits (57), fourth in runs scored (40), fifth in RBIs (25) and home runs (6), and first in sac bunts (10), stolen bases (20) and steal attempts (23).

2007: Named Academic All-WAC...Started 24 games for the Bulldogs, splitting time at second base and shortstop...Had a season-high four RBIs in win against McNeese State...Went 2-for-5 with two runs scored in a 13-6 win at UT-Arlington...Stole 12 bases on the year, second-best on the squad.

2006: Named Academic All-WAC...Batted .387 as a freshman, appearing in 33 games with 31 at-bats...Had five RBIs against Grambling State on April 11 in a 21-2 win...Went 2-for-2 with two runs in the game.

High School: Lettered three years under coach Brian Artac for Merrill Senior High Blue Jays in Merrill, Wis... Helped lead the Blue Jays to the 2005 AA American Legion State Championship...In 2004, he was named first team all-conference and second team all-district...In 2005, he was named second team all-conference, first team all-district and second team all-state...2005 Gatorade Player of the Year and Louisville Slugger Player of the Year in Wisconsin...Also lettered two years in football at running back and safety and three years in basketball at guard...Made honor roll all four years...Was a member of National Honor Society.

Personal: Son of Bob and Janet Grunenwald...Has three brothers, Chris, Alex and Tyrus...Alex also plays baseball for the Bulldogs...Born July 3, 1986, in Merrill, Wis.
