Sutton Tosses Complete Game Shutout in LA Tech's 5-0 Win over FIU

Sutton is the first Bulldog to throw a complete game shutout since 2009

2009: Named Academic All-WAC...Named WAC and LSWA Pitcher of the Week (3/9)...Started 13 games...Threw a team-high 75 1/3 innings and pitched two complete games (3/8 and 4/10)...Picked up his first win of the season in his first start of the year against Grambling State (2/22)...Masterful outing came against Eastern Michigan at home (3/8)...Against the Eagles, he pitched a complete-game shutout...Only gave up six hits, walked one and struck out two in the performance...Allowed only two runs, one was earned, in a 11-4 win at Southern Miss (3/15)...In the conference opener against Nevada, he allowed only two runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings (4/3)...Earned his final win of the season at home against New Mexico State (5/15).

2008: Named Academic All-WAC...Selected in the 48th round of the MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs; decided to return for his senior season...Made 11 appearances on the mound, all starts...First win of the season came in a 17-0 victory vs. McNeese State (2/24)...Longest outing of season came at San Jose State (4/20)...In a no decision, he pitched 6 innings, allowed 10 hits, three earned runs, walked two and struck out one...Grounded out to the second baseman in his lone at-bat of the season vs. Grambling State (4/29)...Held opposition to three earned runs or less in seven of his starts.

2007: Named Academic All-WAC...Selected in the 50th round of the MLB Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks; opted to return to Tech for his junior season...Named to the all-WAC second team...Served as Tech's Sunday starter in the weekend rotation... Threw two complete games, a 3-2 win over Dallas Baptist (3/31) and a 8-1 conference win over Sacramento State (4/15)...Named WAC Pitcher of the Week following his effort against Sacramento State...Struck out five hitters on four occasions...Led the Bulldog starters with a 4.07 ERA.

2006: Named Academic All-WAC...Pitched in nine games, starting four, and finished with a 3-1 record...Recorded a 4.32 ERA and held batters to a .290 average...Had a career-high four strikeouts against Grambling State on April 11 in a five-inning start...Earned his first win against UL-Lafayette on April 5.

2005: Appeared in two games for the Bulldogs...Pitched at UL-Lafayette and struck out one batter...Made another appearance at home against Sam Houston State.

High School: Graduated from Arkansas High School in 2004...Posted an 8-2 record with a 1.76 ERA as a senior with five home runs, 50 RBIs and a .396 batting average...Drafted in the 33rd round by Cincinnati...Helped lead team to the conference championship while earning all-state honors in baseball and all-conference honors in basketball.
