More than 100 Tech athletes earn academic honor
2014: Appeared in four games as a redshirt freshman outfielder for the Bulldogs ... Hit .250 with one hit in four at bats on the season ... Named to the Conference USA Commissioners' Honor Roll for the 2013-14 academic year.

High School: Was a two-sport athlete at Ruston High School, lettering in baseball (3) and football (2) ... Under head baseball coach Toby White, Spangler earned second team all-district honors as a sophomore for the Bearcats ... Named first team all-district in his junior season, as well as first team Northeast La. and to the 4A all-state team ... Tied the Ruston High School homerun record his junior season and was named Ruston High School MVP ... Led his team to the state semifinals after Ruston posted a 26-10 record and were named District 2-4A Champions in 2011 ... In his senior season, Spangler was named first team all-district, as well as being named to the 2012 Times All-Area Baseball Team and the 5A All-Northeast La. Team ... Was named all-state honorable mention, along with being named MVP of Ruston High School for the second consecutive season ... Named to the 2012 East-West All Star Team ... Led Ruston to a 24-6 record, the District 2-5A Championship and the second round of the state baseball tournament ... Was a member of the Student Council and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
