SAN MARCOS, Texas - Texas State used an eight-run fifth inning for a come-from-behind victory to complete the series sweep over Louisiana Tech, 13-6, Sunday afternoon in conference play at Bobcat Ballpark in San Marcos.

Tech (12-24, 2-10 WAC) led early on off a two-run home run by Tyler Qualls in the first inning and plated three additional runs in the fourth for a 5-1 lead over Texas State (15-20, 8-4 WAC), but the Bobcats responded with an eight-run inning in the bottom half of the fifth and never looked back.

"We have to come in and do a better job out of the bullpen," head coach Wade Simoneaux said. "We let it get away from us that inning, and that can't happen. We don't do a very good job of overcoming stuff, but we have got to make some things happen."

Jeremy Hallonquist (1-0) came on in relief to earn the win for Texas State after allowing one run - earned - off three hits and three strike outs in 3.1 innings of work. Hallonquist replaced starter Kyle Finnegan, who gave up five runs - three earned - off seven hits in 3.2 innings pitched. Donnie Hart and Hunter Lemke each came on the pitch an inning to close out the victory.

Left hander Ben Carlisle (0-3) was charged with the loss after coming on in relief of Trevor Petersen with no outs in the fifth. Carlisle gave up three runs - all earned - off two hits, while walking one in 0.1 inning of work. Petersen started and went four complete innings, while allowing four runs - all earned - off four hits and three walks. Laetten Galbraith and Caleb Dudley each came on in relief in the fifth inning as Dudley went on to give up four runs - all earned - off six hits in 2.2 innings of relief.

With a 9-5 lead after five innings of play, Texas State added a lone run in the sixth and put up three additional runs in the eighth inning to complete the scoring for the afternoon. Tech added a run in the top half of the seventh for its sixth and final run of the day.

Austin O'Neal led all Bobcats on the day with a four-RBI day in a 3-for-5 performance at the plate, including a double and a three-run home run in the fifth inning. Colby Targun also put together a 3-for-4 day, while designated hitter Andrew Stumph was 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored. Morgan Mickan was also a perfect 2-for-2 on the day with a solo home run to center field for the Bobcats.

Qualls and Ryan Jones each left the yard with two-run home runs Sunday as each player recorded two hits each on the day, while Qualls recorded three RBI. Left fielder Kody Neel was also 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs return to action at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday as Tech travels to take on Northwestern State in Natchitoches, La.
