April 19, 2017
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - In a game that last nearly four hours, Louisiana Tech railed from an early deficit for the second game in a row to claim a 10-6 victory over Little Rock on Wednesday night at Gary Hogan Field.
Jordan Washam opened the game with a double down the left field line and came around to score on an RBI-ground out from Diaz.
The lead was only temporary, however as Little Rock plated two runs in the bottom of the second to take a 2-1 lead over the Bulldogs.
Little Rock kept the pressure on using a second consecutive two-run frame, this one in the bottom of the third, to take a 4-2 lead over the ‘Dogs. The Trojans added a run in the fourth making it three-straight run scoring innings.
The Bulldogs weren’t going to go down quietly though as Jonathan Washam ripped a double down the left field line to open the top of the fifth. Bates followed Washam with a walk and the duo moved into scoring position on a balk.
A sacrifice fly from Dalton Skelton cut deficit to 5-3 as Washam easily scored from third. Colby Hamilton was hit by a pitch to put two aboard and a two-out single from Gladu scored Bates and made it a 5-4 game.
Diaz then delivered the big blast, a three-run shot over the wall in left center, giving Louisiana Tech a 7-5 lead over Little Rock.
LA Tech padded its lead in the top of the sixth when a bases-loaded walk to Hamilton brought home Jordan Washam and extended the lead to 8-5.
Kyle Griffen tossed 2.2 innings in relief, picking up his second win of the season, while also earning wins on consecutive nights. Over that stretch, the freshman allowed just three hits and a lone unearned run.
Kent Hasler pitched the final 2.1 innings and did not allow a single hit to earn his third save of the season.
Louisiana Tech will be back in action on Friday night playing host to Conference USA-foe UAB for a three-game set in Ruston at the Love Shack. First pitch on Friday is set for 6 p.m. and all three games this weekend will be streamed to CUSA.TV and broadcast on ESPN 97.7.
