Sidelined for nearly a two-week period, it did not take long for Jordan Washam to make his presence felt as the senior belted two doubles in a come-from-behind, 7-5, victory over Marshall on Friday night at the Love Shack.

It was Louisiana Tech’s 18th come-from-behind victory this season as the Bulldogs tacked on two runs in the seventh inning to reclaim the lead for a final time.

Raphael Gladu and Jordan Washam were an unstoppable duo at the top of the order combining to register four hits, four RBI and three doubles. Sean Ullrich also collected two hits in the win, while also driving in two runs.

Gladu and Ullrich each scored two runs for the Bulldogs.

On the hill, Casey Sullivan picked up his first win of the season tossing 2.1 innings, not allowing a base runner and striking out four Herd batters.

LA Tech got the scoring started in the top of the first inning on a solo home run by Brent Diaz to straightaway center.

The Bulldogs extended their lead with a three-run frame in the second inning. Jonathan Washam led off the inning with a double to right field and Ullrich brought him home on an RBI-single to right. Consecutive doubles to Gladu and Jordan Washam plated two more runs that inning and the Bulldogs had a commanding, 4-0 lead.

It wouldn’t stand though, as the Thundering Herd mounted a furious comeback in the fourth inning, using a five-spot in the frame to take a 5-4 lead.

The Bulldogs had a stretch of 13 consecutive batters retired, before Ullrich was hit by a pitch to open the seventh inning. After two quick outs, Gladu smoked a single through the right side to tie the game on an RBI-single. Jordan Washam followed with a clutch, two-out, RBI-double to left center that gave Louisiana Tech a 6-5 lead.

In the eighth inning, LA Tech added an insurance run on an RBI-single from Sean Ullrich.

Nate Harris will get the ball for the Bulldogs tomorrow for his final start at the Love Shack. Senior day festivities will begin at 1:15 p.m. and first pitch will be set for 2 p.m. Due to the Lady Techsters advancing to the 2017 Conference USA Softball Championship against FIU, the game will be broadcast on Z107.5 FM and streamed to CUSA.TV.
