RUSTON, La. - The Louisiana Tech baseball squad finished up its fall practice Monday night with a 7-6 win for the Gray team over Black in Game 7 of the Fall World Series.
With the series already clinched with a 6-1 win in Game 5, the Gray team completed the series by scoring four runs in the top of the ninth inning off three errors by the Black team to complete the comeback and notch the final win of the fall.
Phil Maton pitched two inning of scoreless baseball in the eighth and ninth to notch the win for Gray, complete with four strikeouts for the sophomore.
A pair of newcomers in Ryan Martin-nez and Pierce Spangler led the Gray team on the night by recording two hits each for the winning team.
The Black team scored two and three runs in the third and fifth innings respectively to jump out to a 5-2 lead before Gray mounted a five-run comeback late in the game.
The series now concludes the fall baseball season for the Bulldogs, who will kick off the regular season Feb. 15 on the road, as they will begin the 2013 campaign at UT Arlington.
