Gebhardt, Hedges Named Preseason All-WAC

RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech's Ryan Gebhardt was named preseason first team all-Western Athletic Conference, while senior Austin Hedges received second team honors by on Monday.

Gebhardt, a junior from Monroe, led the Bulldogs last season with a .341 batting average, 76 hits and 44 runs scored. He started and played every inning of every game in 2012. Gebhardt also posted team-highs in doubles (14), sacrifice bunts (11), plate appearances (264) and at bats (223) as he was named first-team All-WAC for the second consecutive season. Gebhardt also earned first team honors from in 2012.

Hedges, a senior from Shreveport, started 53 games at second base for LA Tech in 2012, while hitting .296 with 26 runs batted in, 56 hits and 27 runs scored. He was third on the team in batting average and posted a .409 on base percentage during his junior campaign. Hedges also led the Bulldogs in stolen bases last season with eight.
