RUSTON, La. - Sophomore outfielder/pitcher Colby Johnson will redshirt the 2012 season Louisiana Tech head coach Wade Simoneaux announced Thursday afternoon.

Tech opens the 2012 season on Feb. 17-19 as the Bulldogs host future WAC member Texas-Arlington at J.C. Love Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at J.C. Love Field on Friday while Saturday and Sunday’s games are slated for a 1 p.m. start.

The Bulldogs welcome back 14 letterwinners and four position starters from a 2011 squad that finished 34-27 while winning more WAC Tournament games than any other team in school history and advancing to the tournament’s elimination bracket final game (2-2).
