LA Tech vs. Oral Roberts Game 1 Notes

Sophomore right hander Phil Maton started on the mound for Tech in his second appearance of the season. Maton (1-0) earned his first win of 2013 after tying his career-high for strikeouts with 11 Gold Eagle batters fanned. Maton allowed no runs off two hits in 5.2 innings of work.
Senior Caleb Dudley picked up his second save of the season and the 25th of his Bulldog career after facing three batters and striking out two in the ninth to clinch the victory for Tech.
The win marks the first shutout for Tech since April 17, 2011 at Hawaii. It is also the first shutout in the team's home opener since 2001. The Bulldogs are now 9-5 in home openers since 2000.
First baseman Tyler Ervine recorded his third multi-hit game of the season with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate and a run scored.
Right fielder Bre'shon Kimbell totaled two doubles in a 2-for-4 day at the plate. Kimbell also added an RBI in the sixth inning to give Tech a 2-0 lead.
