RICHMOND, Va. -- Louisiana Tech right fielder Devon Dageford received his third award of the week after he was named Player of the Week for the West Region of the United States by CollegeBaseballInsider.com on Wednesday.
Against the defending National Champion Fresno State last weekend, Dageford smashed two big home runs for the Bulldogs. In the first game of the series, the native of Beatrice, Neb. launched a two-run walk-off home run to give Tech its second conference win of the season.
In the series finale on April 19, Dageford helped Tech sweep their nickname counterparts after he smashed his second home run of the series. This time, he hit the go-ahead home run to give Tech a 6-5 lead.
The outfielder went 10-for-21 at the plate and collected nine RBI in the Bulldogs' five wins last week. He also contributed two walks, a stolen base and a perfect fielding percentage.
On Monday, the Western Athletic Conference awarded Dageford with Hitter of the Week honors. One day later, he received the same exact award from the Louisiana Sportswriters Association.
Dageford was only one of our four players selected by the Web site to represent their respective region. Regional players of the week are chosen based on their conference affiliation.
