Bulldogs Use Long Ball to Take Series at ODU, 7-3
LA Tech (23-13, 6-9 C-USA) used three ninth-inning bombs to grab a 7-3 victory in the series finale against Old Dominion (26-11, 10-5 C-USA) on Sunday in Norfolk.

LA Tech (35-18, 18-9 C-USA) currently sits in third place in the C-USA standings, just percentage points behind Florida Atlantic for second. Tech recently took two of three from then No. 9 Southern Miss last weekend. The series win was Tech's first over the Golden Eagles, and snapped a streak of 12-straight C-USA series wins for Southern Miss, dating back to April of last year.

Tech has already clinched a spot in the league tournament in Biloxi, Mississippi, while Old Dominion (15-34, 7-19 C-USA) is one of two C-USA teams that has been eliminated from postseason contention. The Monarchs have been plagued by injuries this season, but still own the league's sixth-best batting average at .278.

Old Dominion is led offensively by Craig Lopez, who leads the team in hitting with a .364 batting average. Culver Lamb leads the squad in both home runs (nine) and RBI (29).

On the mound, Old Dominion has posted a combined team ERA of 5.48. LHP Luke Krantz (1-1, 5.53 ERA, 27.2 IP, 21 K, 8 BB) is set to make the Thursday night start for the Monarchs, while their other two starters have yet to be determined.

For the Bulldogs, head coach Lane Burroughs will roll with LHP David Leal (3-3, 2.09 ERA, 77.1 IP, 73 K, 9 BB), RHP Matt Miller (4-4, 4.16 ERA, 71.1 IP, 67 K, 22 BB) and TBA in that order.

Leal is coming off a brilliant relief performance against Southern Miss in Sunday's rubber match. In his first appearance out of the bullpen all year, Leal picked up a four-inning save, while limiting the potent Golden Eagles' lineup to just two hits. Leal struck out five and walked just one, while clinching 8-3 Tech triumph.

Tech has now won 18 games on the road this season - a first for a Tech team since the 1982 squad went 22-11 away from Ruston.

The Bulldogs will honor seniors Graham Ahlrich, Josh Carpenter, Kent Hasler, Dalton Skelton and Casey Sullivan 30 minutes prior to Friday's 6:00 first pitch at the Love Shack. All three games will be streamed on CUSA.tv (subscription required) and will be broadcast on SportsTalk 97.7 with Dave Nitz on the call.
