RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech's Stephen Gandy has been named to the Conference USA Baseball All-Academic Team as the redshirt senior represents the Bulldogs on the 11-member squad, announced by league officials on Monday.
Gandy, a native of Farmerville, currently owns a perfect 4.0 GPA while pursuing a master's in business administration at Tech. He earned honors six quarters while at Louisiana Tech, is a five-time member of the Dean's List and a one-time honoree on the President's List.
Recently, Gandy was also a recipient of the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal, as well as being named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll this past spring.
This season, Gandy posted a .267 batting average, while also totaling six doubles, two home runs and 15 RBI in the 37 games he appeared in as a designated hitter for the Bulldogs. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with an undergraduate degree in marketing in May of 2013.
Two seniors, six juniors, one sophomore and one graduate student covering 10 teams comprise the 2014 Conference USA Baseball All-Academic Team as selected by the media relations contacts at each of the 13 baseball schools. In order to be eligible for the recognition, student-athletes must hold a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, be of at least sophomore academic standing and be a starter or key reserve for their team.
