MESA, Ariz. - Louisiana Tech redshirt freshman Jacob Derouen was named the WAC Player of the Week for May 14-20 on Tuesday.

This is the second time a Bulldog player has received the honor this season and the first weekly honor for Derouen this season.

The backup-catcher/designated hitter led the Bulldogs to a 5-2 victory over Fresno State after hitting a two out, three-run double in the first inning to clear the bases and give Tech a 3-0 lead.

Ryan Gebhardt received the award earlier this season while Jamie Gilley received LSWA Pitcher of the Week and Alex Williams and Phil Maton were named Verizon WAC Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, earlier this season.

Derouen and the Bulldogs begin postseason play as the No. 6 seed in the WAC Tournament and face Nevada at 9 p.m. CT at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Arizona.
