RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech sophomore right hander Phil Maton was named first team all-Western Athletic Conference by CollegeSportsMadness.com on Thursday.

The honor is the second all-WAC honor this week for the Chatham, Ill. native, who was named first team all-WAC earlier this week by the league's head coaches.

Maton led the league in with 89 strikeouts in 2013 and was second among conference pitchers in 2013 with a 2.70 earned run average in 15 appearances and 14 starts. Maton's sophomore campaign was highlighted by a consecutive scoreless inning streak of 29.1 innings without allowing a run.

Maton started 14 of the 15 games he appeared in and led the Bulldog pitching staff in ERA (2.70), innings pitched (96.2) and strikeouts (89). His 89 strikeouts also rank him in the top 50 in the country among Division I pitchers.
