Two Baseball Players Named All-WAC

MESA, Ariz. - Louisiana Tech’s Ryan Gebhardt was named all-Western Athletic Conference first team while Alex Williams received second team all-WAC honors by on Thursday.

Gebhardt, a sophomore from Monroe, led Louisiana Tech and was fifth in the league with a .337 batting average and 68 hits this season. Gebhardt started all 50 games for LA Tech and played in every inning of every game this season. His 37 runs and 13 doubles were also team-highs as Gebhardt earned all-WAC honors for the second consecutive season. The shortstop received second team honors as a freshman in 2011.

Williams, a senior from Vick, was one of two Bulldogs on the all-WAC second team as he tied a career-high with 11 home runs this season, a team best. Williams also led the club in RBI with 42 and was second on the team in batting average (.318), runs scored (33), hits (62) and doubles (11). The first baseman started all 50 games for LA Tech and currently rides a 20-game reached base safely streak and a 14-game hit streak.
