RUSTON - One day after being selected in the 22nd round of the Major League Baseball Draft, Louisiana Tech junior pitcher Jeb Stefan signed with the Philadelphia Phillies Thursday morning.

The Lafayette, Louisiana native who had one year of college eligibility remaining opted to bypass his final season at Tech in order to pursue his dream of playing professionally.

Stefan, a 6-foot-4-inch, 225-pound right hander, will head to Clearwater, Florida this weekend for a week of spring training before joining the Williamsport (PA) Crosscutters - the Phillies Short-Season A organization.

This marks the fourth junior that the Bulldog program has lost to professional baseball in the last two years as Mark Threlkeld, Mike Jefferson and Kyle Roliard all signed with major league organizations last summer.
