Top Dawg Baseball Camps Brochure

RUSTON -- Louisiana Tech head coach Wade Simoneaux is conducting sign-ups for his youth non-residential Top Dawg Baseball Camp scheduled to begin on June 29-July 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.

The youth camp is open to all baseball players entering first through seventh grade. Participants will receive instruction on hitting, defensive skills, pitching and base running. Campers will then put their skills to the test in "rag ball" games. The cost is $150 per camper.

"In our youth camp, we really stress the fundamentals of baseball," Simoneaux said. "Campers have the opportunity to work with our players and interact with them. It is really an enjoyable time for the kids."

Baseball players entering eighth through 12th grade can register for the high school camp slated for July 27-30 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park. Participants will learn defensive position work, play intrasquad scrimmages, work on their strength and conditioning and experience the same drills the Bulldogs perform. A three-night hotel stay is included in the cost for out-of-town campers. The cost for day campers is $275 and the cost for overnight campers is $350.

"Our high school camp gives us a chance to see talented players that could play for us one day," Simoneaux said. "The high school campers have the opportunity to see the campus and learn the coaches, while also improving their talents."

South Louisiana high school campers can reserve a spot on a free bus that departs from North Park in Denham Springs on July 27 at 6 a.m.

Lastly, registration is available for the Top Dawg Baseball High School Fall League scheduled for six Sundays beginning with Sept. 21 and concluding on Nov. 16 also at the Bulldogs' ballpark. Participants will receive instruction on the facets of baseball, including fundamentals, from Bulldog players. The cost to participate in the league is $250 per player.

Campers are encouraged to bring a baseball cap, cleats, practice pants, shorts, a long sleeve shirt, sweats and their own equipment, including a bat, glove and cleats. Catchers are encouraged to bring their own gear.

Registration for both camps and the fall league is available on the baseball page at www.latechsports.com. Campers can also register by contacting Simoneaux at 318-235-7030 or via email at wade@latech.edu.
