Maton selected to West Coast League All-Star squad

RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech pitcher Phil Maton has been named to the West Coast League All-Star eastern division squad after an impressive showing for the Kelowna Falcons in the 2012 summer league.

Maton, who just completed his freshman season on the mound for the Bulldogs, was named an all-star after posting a 2-1 record with a 2.75 earned run average for the Falcons.

Maton started five games and made 11 total appearances while striking out 42 batters. He also recorded a save for Kelowna during the summer season.

The righthander, a native of Chatham, Ill., went to the West Coast League after an impressive freshman season at Tech where he posted a 2.93 ERA with a record of 8-5 in 2011.
