Sept. 29, 2008
RUSTON -- For the first time in the Wade Simoneaux era at Louisiana Tech, the Bulldog baseball team will play four fall games against outside competition. Simoneaux announced Monday that Louisiana Tech would play LSU-Shreveport Oct. 3, Panola Junior College Oct. 9, Grambling State Oct. 16 and Bossier Parish Community College Oct. 18. The game against BPCC will be at noon while the other three will start at 6 p.m. All games will be played at J.C. Love Field in Ruston. "The No. 1 reason for the fall games is to try and see our guys against someone other than ourselves," Simoneaux said. "The second reason was to only play 52 games in the spring. With our travel, it makes it difficult to fit 56 games (the maximum the NCAA allows) into the shortened season that the NCAA went to last year." Louisiana Tech's annual Fall World Series will also take place starting in the month of October as the Bulldogs will divide the squad and play seven nine-inning games. The Fall World Series is set for Oct. 24, 25, 26, 28, 31 and Nov. 1 and 2.
