RUSTON - Louisiana Tech head baseball coach Wade Simoneaux and pitching coach Brian Rountree will be featured speakers at the Mid-South Baseball Coaches Clinic tonight and tomorrow at the Pearl River Resort in Philadelphia, MS.
Simoneaux will speak tomorrow at 10:45 a.m.
"I will talk about offensive strategy, while Tree will speak about pitching," said Simoneaux. "There will be 200-250 high school coaches in attendance that can hopefully use some of the strategies we touch on to improve their programs."
Simoneaux believes this will open some doors for the Bulldog program as well.
"Speaking here gives us an opportunity to speak in front of coaches from areas that we do not generally receive tons of recruits," Simoneaux said. "It really opens some doors for us and allows us to speak in front of coaches from high schools in different states."
Rountree is speaking tonight at 6:45 p.m. and will focus on the mental side of pitching.
"I will cover what goes into our bullpen sessions with our starters and relievers," said Rountree. "I will focus on the mental side of pitching instead of just covering pitching mechanics. Being able to maximize bullpen sessions can really help some of the programs that will be in attendance."
Louisiana Tech opens its 2012 season Feb. 17 against Texas-Arlington.
