RUSTON - Registration for this year's Top Dawg Holiday Camp at J.C. Love Field at Louisiana Tech University is in full swing as the Dec. 15 deadline for high school overnighters and Dec. 26 deadline for high school campers are quickly approaching. "The camps are a great opportunity for us to see talented ball players that could possibly play at Louisiana Tech one day," Simoneaux said. The youth camp is open to all first through seventh graders. Campers will learn the fundamentals of pitching, catching, infield, outfield and hitting. The first session of camp will begin on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. and end at 5 p.m. because of school. The second and third sessions will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost to participate in the youth camp is $150 per camper. The high school camp is open to all eighth through 12th graders. Campers will experience the same drills the Bulldogs perform, learn defensive position work, play intrasquad scrimmages, execute hitting drills and work on their strength and conditioning. The camp will begin on Tuesday, Dec. 27 and continue through Thursday, Dec. 29. The cost of the high school camp is $275 per camper. For overnight campers, the cost is $400 per camper. All participants are encouraged to bring their own baseball gear, including a bat, glove, cleats, practice pants, shorts and a sweatshirt. Catchers are encouraged to bring their own equipment.
