RUSTON - Louisiana Tech head coach Wade Simoneaux has announced the cancellation of the annual Top Dawg Winter Youth Camp due to local schools still being in session before the holiday break begins.
The youth camp was originally scheduled to start Thursday, Dec. 20 and wrap up Saturday, Dec. 22 for first through seventh graders.
The next youth camp will be held in the summer for those interested in learning the fundamentals of pitching, hitting and fielding by the Bulldog baseball team.
The Top Dawg high school camp will continue as planned and will run from Dec. 27-29 at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.
The camp is open to all eighth through 12th graders. Campers will experience the same drills the Bulldogs perform, learn defensive position work, play intrasquad scrimmages, execute hitting drills and work on strength and conditioning.
The high school camp will begin Thursday, Dec. 27-28 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and conclude Saturday, Dec. 29 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Registration for the Top Dawg Holiday Camp can be done online at www.LATechSports.com or by calling Kim Tanner at (318) 257-3314.
