Louisiana Tech at UTSA Jan. 12, 2013 Game Notes With the 73-71, Louisiana Tech now leads the all-time series over UTSA 5-1. LA Tech improves to 14-3 on the season and 5-0 in the WAC (six-game winning streak). UTSA falls to 4-12 on the season and 0-6 in the WAC (six-game losing streak). Bulldog starters were Michale Kyser, Brandon Gibson, Raheem Appleby, Kenneth Smith and Cordarius Johnson. This has been the same starting five for 16 of the 17 games this season. The win marks the first time since the 1991-92 season that the Bulldogs have had multiple winning streaks of at least six games in a season. LA Tech had a seven-game winning streak from Nov. 14-30. The victory marks the first time since the 2001-02 season that the Bulldogs have won three-straight road conference games. It's on the second time since LA Tech joined the WAC that they opened conference play 5-0. Forward Michale Kyser had four blocks on the night giving him 56 for the season, breaking the sophomore single-season record previous held by Willie Simmons (1982-83) and Paul Millsap (2004-05) who each had 55 their sophomore year. Guard Kenyon McNeail moved up to seventh place all-time for career three-pointers made after making nine. He now has 114 for his career.
McNeail broke the program record for most three-point field goals attempted with 15. The previous record was 13 shared by three players. McNeail tied the program record for most three-point field goals made in a game with nine. Johnny Miller made nine on Feb. 15, 1997 at Western Kentucky. Forward Chris Anderson scored a career-high 10 points off the bench. The Bulldog bench accounted for 54 of the team's 73 total points.
