With the 71-66 win, Louisiana Tech now holds the all-time series over Old Dominion, 1-0, following the first ever meeting between the two teams.
LA Tech improved to 22-6 on the season and 10-3 in C-USA which puts them in a four-way tie for second place. The Bulldogs have yet to lose back-to-back games this season.
ODU fell to 13-15 on the season and 7-6 in C-USA.
LA Tech is 3-1 this season when facing opponents for the first time in program history. They also had wins over Florida Atlantic and Charlotte.
The Bulldogs shot 82.4 percent from the free throw line (28-of-34). This marked the fifth time this season the `Dogs have shot at least 80 percent from the charity stripe and the first time during conference play.
LA Tech shot 19-of-54 from the field for 32.5 percent. The number of field goals made and the field goal percentage were the lowest this season the Bulldogs have had in a game and still won.
LA Tech is a perfect 8-0 this season when shooting at least 75 percent from the foul line.
Alex Hamilton scored a team-high 20 points. It marked his seventh career 20-plus scoring performance and his first since he scored 24 versus Marshall (1/25/14).
Kenneth Smith dished out a game-high eight assists. The junior point guard has now dished out at least eight assists in 10 of the last 11 games.
With the eight assists, Smith moved into second place all-time in career assists (524), passing Lonnie Cooper (1995-99). He needs only eight more to set the single season record.
Kenyon McNeail registered 14 points, marking the sixth straight game he has come off the bench to record double-digits in scoring.
Chris Anderson scored 19 points, the third most he has scored in his career in a single game.
