Opening Statement:

"It was an ugly win for us. It was not our best effort in terms of focus, more than anything. We were probably a little too focused on the big picture. In terms of details, we were not at our best, but I would like to credit UTSA. I thought their changing of zones and their zone effectiveness was really good. I thought they came here and played extremely hard. They really took the fight to us. I thought they had incredible composure through the second half. They held the ball a lot better in the second half and made great decisions. Keon Lewis got into a really good rhythm, he was almost impossible to stop late in the game. He hit some big tough shots. He is a really good scorer. Jeromie Hill was terrific as he always is. It was nice to find a way to gut it out. I thought the turning point was getting some stops late and finding a half court rhythm defensively. Speedy got out in the open floor and had a few nice lobs to Mike. Those couple of dunks off of turnovers and Speedy's two three-pointers against the zone, really helped us settle in against that zone."

On winning three consecutive conference regular season championships:

"It is a tremendous accomplishment. If you had asked me three years ago if we were going to win a championship in the next three years, I would have told you a lot of things would have to happen for us and we would have to get a lot better. It has happened. I do not take that for granted. Going into next season it will be all about if we can win a fourth, or a share of a fourth. These freshman will be looking for their second. It does not happen very often, especially in college basketball. It speaks to the consistency of the seniors and the tremendous staffs that I have had, as well as how good the players are. I am just blessed to be a part of it."

On NCAA Tournament:

"The biggest goal of the season, is to find a way into the NCAA Tournament. It is going to be a goal for any team in the country to win a regular season title. I think regular season championships are a little undervalued. To have consistency over an 18 game period, speaks volumes to your student athletes. That being said, it is an incredible experience to win a regular season championship. The ultimate goal still remains. These seniors have done it and they want to do something a little different on their way out if they can. We know Birmingham is going to be tough because there are a handful of teams that have a chance. Winning three games in three days will be very difficult, but we are going to swing for the fences."

On the run late in the game:

"I thought in the last six minutes, our defensive effort and focus was right. I thought it was right from the tip and we got away from it for the majority of the second half. I thought it had to do with our offensive struggles. Late in the game we talked in the huddle about it not being our night offensively and their zone being effective. I told them that we were going to score a couple more baskets, we just needed to string together some stops defensively to win a championship. I told them to forget about the first thirty minutes and do what we could to string together some stops. I thought we did that. We got in the passing lanes and Michale continued to alter shots at the rim. I thought we settled in defensively late and then Speedy's two big threes against the zone were huge."

On atmosphere:

"Our crowd was incredible, they were just awesome. They continue to be a big help to us. I hope they know how appreciative I am and our players are, that they continue to come out and help us win. This championship is special for our guys, especially our seniors. I want our fans to know how big a part of it they were tonight and the past three years."

On opportunity to win outright championship:

"It is going to be hard to sleep this week. Southern Miss will be very prepared and they are capable. They beat UTSA a couple of nights ago. They have had some misfortune they have had to overcome. I credit Doc (Sadler), for holding it together. I think physically we will come out Thursday night with a ton of energy, probably too much energy. We are going to have to calm our guys down, especially our seniors who will play in front of their beloved fans for the last time. There is a lot on the line. They really want to go out the right way for the last time in the TAC."
