Louisiana Tech at ULM Post-Game Quotes Head coach Michael White

Opening Statement:

"It was a really good win for us on the road in a hostile environment against a very solid team that has really played well in their limited amount of action in playing six games. We have a lot of respect for ULM and what they have been able to accomplish and playing very competitively against Ole Miss and LSU on the road, and then with their one Division I home game against Samford was unbelievable. That was over with at the tip. We knew we would have to play well and we put together one of our better games. I thought we got contributions from a ton of guys for the first time in a while where we had eight or nine guys play well which always bodes well for any team. The cherry on top of the whip cream is that we shot the ball the way we did. We have said this for two years, when this team shoots the ball well we are pretty good and that was the case tonight."

On the performance:

"We put together a complete 40 minutes and played one of our better games against a really solid team. ULM is very good. I think they are going to be competitive in the Sun Belt. The way that they defend in the half court is tremendous. Their defensive numbers scared me the most coming into this game. Fortunately, we made shots. Defensively, I thought we were equally as good. We got some turnovers which allowed us to get out into the open floor. We had good performances by eight or nine guys, not two or three, which always helps."

On getting off to a fast start:

"I think it was huge rather than making shots late. We got out to a pretty good lead and the crowd was not as big of a factor as it could have been. Congratulations to ULM. They had a very nice crowd and I am also appreciative of the Bulldog fans that came. We had a pretty nice contingent as well. I did not realize how many we had until we turned around at the end of the game. It was a good environment. It was a good game for north Louisiana. I think this is a big year for college basketball in the state of Louisiana. I think there are several good teams. I think ULM is one of them. Tonight, we just happened to be really good offensively, really efficient. We played with maturity with a lead. I was proud of our guards. Our bigs gave us production as well. Overall, it was a really good performance."

On the series being renewed:

'We are definitely open to it. I am sure they are open to. Those conversations will take place. Right now I am focused on getting to Florida in the ole minivan with the family and spending time with my kids and the wife, then turning all of our attention to Oklahoma. I am sure Keith [Richard] and I will talk and both administrations will talk. Scheduling is very, very hard, but I am sure those decisions will be made in the next couple of months."

On the Christmas break:

"I wish we didn't have it. I was thinking about cancelling Christmas, we are in such a good rhythm now, but my wife would kill me. I think we just have to take advantage of all getting away from [basketball] and spending time with our families, eating good food but not eating too much, and stay somewhat focused on the 26th when we come back to practice because we all know that all teams, including us, still have room for improvement. We will have to play awfully well in Oklahoma to have a shot."
