Louisiana Tech Head Coach Michael White Post-game quotes
"It was a good win for our program against a really solid team, an extremely well coached team in a somewhat hostile environment. I think we will continue to gain confidence from games like this knowing that we can go on the road in Conference USA and be competitive and have a chance. This is a physically tough group. I am proud of our mental toughness which was off the charts tonight."
On Alex Hamilton:
"He was phenomenal. He couldn't find a rhythm in the first half, but in the second half he put us on his back and just made a ton of plays offensively. He has great playmaking skills and he was able to get to the paint a lot and convert a lot, draw fouls. As good as he was in the second half, I thought Cordarius Johnson was equally as good in the first half just keeping us in the game because it could have been ugly early."
On getting back into game after being down 14 in first half:
"I think more than anything we just settled in offensively. We had some looks at the basket and from beyond the arc early, but they did not fall. I thought it made us a little tentative offensively. It is hard as a pressing team to play with the same amount of intensity and with the same energy level when you are not making shots, making it impossible to get into our press. We just simply made a couple of shots, converting from three which allowed us to create our press and create a couple of turnovers. Then it became a competitive game."
On being able to turnover OU's Jordan Woodard:
"I thought we did a good job on [Jordan] Woodard in the backcourt and that is our strength. In the front court, I thought late in the game he had his way with getting to the rim, drawing fouls, getting too deep. He is a handful. He is very crafty, very intelligent."
On the buzzer beating three-pointer to force overtime:
"It was definitely deflating to say the least. I thought the game was over. As deflated as I was, I can't imagine how deflated our guys were. To regroup and to play with the amount of mental toughness in the extra period was really impressive."
