SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Louisiana Tech (6-7) will open the Western Athletic Conference portion of this year's schedule Saturday, Jan. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Event Center to take on San Jose State Spartans (6-4) in conference action.
"I've told our guys that there's three parts to the season," Tech head coach Kerry Rupp said. "Now, the second part is starting and we're 0-0 right now. We're staying positive and learning from our non-conference schedule as we get ready for a strong WAC schedule."
Tech wrapped up non-conference play Sunday at No. 12 nationally-ranked UCLA where the Bulldogs lost 78-55. San Jose State is coming off a win against William Jessup by a final score of 82-61.
Tech leads the all-time series with San Jose 11-5. The Spartans last beat the Bulldogs in the play-in game at the 2008 WAC Tournament in Las Cruces, N.M., by a final score of 64-62.
Junior Kyle Gibson leads Tech scorers with 16.1 points per game, while Adrian Oliver leads the Spartans at 20.0 ppg.
Tech will remain on the road Monday, Jan. 5, and will take on Hawaii at 11 p.m.
The game will be broadcast live on KXKZ 107.5 FM locally and can be heard live on the internet at www.z1075fm.com.
