RUSTON -- The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs return home Thursday, Jan. 8, at 7 p.m. to host the Utah State Aggies (13-1; 1-0 WAC) in the Thomas Assembly for a game to be broadcast on ESPN Plus that will also picked up by Cox Sports TV local channel 26.
The Bulldogs (7-8; 1-1 WAC) split conference road games this past weekend after picking up a WAC-opening win against San Jose State Saturday by a 66-61 final and then losing a heart-breaker to Hawaii Monday night 65-64.
Utah State has won their last seven games dating back to Dec. 13 and sports the best overall record in the WAC. The Aggies' only loss this year came to in-state rival BYU on Dec. 6.
Tech has won six straight games at home dating back to last season, and this season, the Bulldogs are averaging 73.8 points per home game while holding opponents to 60.5 points.
Since joining the Western Athletic Conference in the 2005-06 season, the Aggies have had a 6-1 series lead over Tech. The lone win for the Bulldogs came near the end of the 2006-07 season when they bested Utah State by a final score of 84-71 in the Thomas Assembly Center.
Junior Kyle Gibson leads Tech scorers at 15.2 points per game, with junior Jamel Guyton close behind at 12.6 ppg. Juniors Kenneth Cooper (12.4 ppg) and Magnum Rolle (11.2 ppg) round out Tech's double-digit scorers.
Gibson leads the WAC in minutes played per game at 35.8 earning himself the nickname "Iron Man."
The Aggies are led in scoring by senior forward Gary Wilkinson at 17.1 ppg.
The game will be televised live on Cox Sports TV local channel 26 and on ESPN Plus. KXKZ 107.5 FM will be broadcasting the game on the radio with a live audio feed available at www.z1075fm.com. The pregame show will begin around 30 minutes prior to tip off.
