RUSTON -- After a defensive struggle Thursday night against Utah State, Louisiana Tech (7-9; 1-2 WAC) will play host to the Nevada Wolf Pack (8-7; 1-1 WAC) Saturday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. in the Thomas Assembly Center.
Thursday night, the Bulldogs were neck and neck with the conference-leading Aggies near the final minutes before Utah State finally pulled away in the end by a final score of 50-37 in a defensive showdown.
It took overtime in Las Cruces, N.M., for Nevada to come away with a win over New Mexico State 79-71.
Since the Bulldogs joined the Western Athletic Conference in the 2001-02, season, the Nevada Wolf Pack have held a 12-3 all-time series lead over Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs have not bested their Wolf Pack foes since the 2002-03 season when the Bulldogs won 99-97 in Reno, the Nevada has won 11 straight over Tech.
Junior Kyle Gibson leads the Bulldogs in scoring at 14.9 points per game which is tenth best in the WAC in overall scoring per game. Luke Babbitt's 15.2 ppg leads Nevada.
