BOISE, Idaho -- Louisiana Tech (3-11; 0-2 WAC) will remain on the road Saturday, Jan. 12, at 8 p.m. to take on the Boise State Broncos (11-4; 2-1 WAC) in the Taco Bell Arena.
"We're excited about going into Boise," Tech head coach Kerry Rupp said. "This gives us a chance to compete against a very good team. A big key for us will be transition. They're going to run the whole night. We have to control them and make it five-on-five. They are a good team, and we're excited about the opportunity to get back on the floor."
Tech and Boise have met 13 times in each program's history dating back to the 2001-02 season when the Bulldogs joined the WAC. Last season, the Bulldogs and the Broncos split with Boise State taking the first win 82-56 in Idaho before the Bulldogs won in Ruston 84-76 later in the season. Before last year, Tech had a three-game winning streak against Boise State.
The Bulldogs are coming off a close loss to Idaho where they shot 52 percent from the floor for a season best. Boise State also lost a close game to New Mexico State. Both games were Thursday night.
"We're coming off a disappointing loss at Idaho," Rupp said. "I thought we showed some improvement in some offensive areas, but we also fell short in our physical presence on the boards. You can't let a team get 14 offensive rebounds. We have to do a better job of blocking out and preventing second-chance points."
Sophomore Kyle Gibson leads Tech scorers at 14.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
Reggie Larry leads Boise at 19.0 points per game.
The game will be broadcast live on KXKZ 107.5 FM locally and can be heard via the internet at www.z1075fm.com.
