RUSTON, La. -
For the first time in over a month, Louisiana Tech will try to bounce back from a loss as they play at Hawai'i on Saturday at 11 p.m. CT.
The Bulldogs (17-3, 5-1 Western Athletic Conference) are coming off an 87-76 loss at San Jose State on Thursday, their first defeat since Dec. 9 at Arizona, a string of 10-straight wins. LA Tech was plagued early with foul trouble and late with too much Adrian Oliver as the junior guard scored 39 points for the Spartans. Kyle Gibson played the majority of the second half with four fouls on his way to 22 points after scoring just two in the first half.
Hawai'i (9-10, 2-4 WAC) is coming off a tough loss as well as they lost to New Mexico State 71-69 on Thursday after holding a 40-28 halftime lead. Nearly half of the Rainbow Warrior's points came off the bench as they outscored the Aggies 32-0. Roderick Fleming leads the way for UH, averaging 14.6 points per game this season.
Both teams are strong on the offensive glass as Hawai'i (14.05) and Louisiana Tech (12.90) are ranked first and second, respectively, in the conference in offensive rebounds.
Tech leads the overall series 10-7, but Hawai'i has won four of the last five meetings including the last two by one point. The last meeting was a heartbreaker for the Bulldogs as the Warriors' Petras Balocka tipped in the game-winning basket with .2 seconds on the clock to win the game 54-53 in Ruston. LA Tech has lost the last three meetings at Hawai'i.
