Bracey Earns C-USA Honor for Second Straight Week

RUSTON – For the second straight week and the third time this season, Louisiana Tech point guard DaQuan Bracey was chosen as the Conference USA Freshman of the Week.
Bracey averaged 12.5 points per game while shooting 63 percent from the field (10-of-16) and making all three of his three-point attempts. He also dished out 12 assists in helping LA Tech extend its longest winning streak of the season to four with convincing home victories over Rice and North Texas.
On Thursday night, the Baltimore, Maryland native had eight points and five assists on offense while also helping the Bulldogs hold the 19th highest scoring offensive in the country in the Owls to 20 points below their season average in a 74-64 win.
He turned around on Saturday night and poured in 17 points, his second highest scoring output of the season. The ‘Dogs ended up downing the Mean Green, 81-57, making them the ninth opponent to be held to under 60 points this season by LA Tech.
Bracey is currently averaging 5.7 assists per game, third most in C-USA. He is up to 114 assists this season, closing in on the freshman record which is 142 held by former Bulldog great Kenneth ‘Speedy’ Smith.
He and the Bulldogs are in second place in the league standings going into Thursday night’s game at UAB which tips off at 8 p.m.
