Bulldog Beat with Alex Carr
Jan. 31, 2012
Freshman guard Alex Carr of Adamsville, Ala. was a highly rated senior coming out of Minor High School. He was ranked the eighth best player in Alabama after averaging 23 points and seven rebounds per game his senior year and 13.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.6 steals per game his junior year.
Carr decided to come to Louisiana Tech over scholarship offers from Arkansas-Little Rock, East Carolina, Murray State and Providence.
“I fell in love with the coaching staff, and the players embraced me and made it feel like a home atmosphere,” said Carr.
As a freshman at Minor HS, Carr also participated in football and was the starting quarterback on the varsity squad before an elbow injury ended his season. After the injury, he decided to fully concentrate on basketball his final three years in high school.
When not on the basketball court or in the classroom, Carr is just like any other young adult in college hanging out with his teammates, playing video games and talking to his parents about how school is going for him.
The two video games that Carr can be found playing is NBA 2K12 and Madden 2012 as the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bears.
“I play as the Lakers on NBA 2K12 because I am a big Kobe Bryant fan and as the Bears on Madden 2012 because that is the team my favorite NFL player, Devin Hester, is on,” Carr said.
When he gets time to go back home Carr likes to spend time with his parents, Clinton and Kecia, and brother, Clinton Carr III. Alex also hangs out with his friends and goes to movies.
Once Carr finishes his basketball playing career, whether it be collegiate or professional, he will be staying in the sports arena as either a coach or in sports medicine.
“I am going to major in kinesiology so I can be around the sports atmosphere for the rest of my life,” said Carr. “It is just something I want to be around. I loved being around sports growing up.”
