RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech will take its two-game winning streak on the road as it faces Fresno State on Saturday at 10 p.m. CT.
The Battle of the Bone will take place in front of a national television audience as the men's basketball contest will be shown on ESPNU.
Tech is 11-12 overall and 2-7 in the Western Athletic Conference following a 70-60 win over Boise State on Saturday. The Bulldogs used a stifling defense that held the Broncos to 15 points below their league leading 75 points per game average. They also received a 19 point performance from senior guard DeAndre Brown who is averaging 15.7 points per game to lead the Bulldogs in scoring.
Junior forward Olu Ashaolu will attempt to go for four-consecutive double-doubles for the second time this season as he currently has three in a row. His 13 double-doubles this season ranks as the 7th best in the country. Ashaolu is the top rebounder in the WAC, averaging 9.8 rebounds per game. In WAC games only, he is averaging a double-double with 14.1 points and 10.9 rebounds per game.
Fresno State is 9-12 overall and 4-6 in the WAC following an 88-83 win over New Mexico State on Thursday to break a six game WAC losing streak. Prior to its win over the Aggies, Fresno State hadn't won a WAC game since its 63-56 win over Tech on Jan. 6. The Bulldogs are led in scoring by Kevin Olekaibe (12.5 ppg) and in rebounding by Greg Smith (7.2 rpg).
Louisiana Tech is 12-13 all-time against Fresno State and will be going for its first win in Fresno since 2006.
