Feb. 14, 2017
RUSTON – For the second straight week and the sixth time this season, Louisiana Tech’s Erik McCree was voted as the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
The forward averaged 22 points while shooting 54 percent from the field (13-24) and an amazing 71 percent from three-point range (10-14) in leading the Bulldogs to a Texas road sweep over UTEP and UTSA.
In El Paso, the redshirt senior went a perfect 4-of-4 from behind the arc in route to posting a game-high 19 points to go along with eight rebounds as LA Tech handed the Miners their first conference home loss of the season.
Then on Saturday in San Antonio, he tallied a game-high 25 points and nine rebounds to hand the Roadrunners just their second home loss of the season.
The Orlando, Florida native ended up making a career-high six three-pointers while also sealing the victory with a key block and two made free throws in the final seconds.
McCree and the Bulldogs are currently alone in second place in the league standings with five regular season games remaining. Next up is a home matchup versus Florida Atlantic on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m. inside the Thomas Assembly Center.
