McCree Earns C-USA Player of the Week Honors
Feb. 15, 2016
RUSTON -- After helping Louisiana Tech defeat the top two teams in the league standings this past week, forward Erik McCree received Conference USA Player of the Week honors voted on by a media panel representing the 14 league schools.
For the week, McCree averaged 25.5 points per game while shooting 56 percent from the field (18-of-32). He also averaged 9.0 rebounds per game.
On Thursday in the 73-63 victory over the Blue Raiders, the redshirt junior recorded his team-leading seventh double-double of the season with a team-high 18 points and 12 rebounds.
The Orlando, Florida native followed that up with a career performance by scoring 33 points, the most points scored by a Bulldog since 2013.
Twenty-three of his 33 points came in the second half when LA Tech stormed back to complete the come-from-behind victory, 85-76, over the Blazers.
This is McCree's second C-USA Player of the Week honor of the season and his career. The Bulldogs are the only team in the league to have two players receive multiple player of the week awards.
McCree will lead the Bulldogs on the road against UTSA on Thursday, Feb. 18. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on the American Sports Network.
