RUSTON -- The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (10-16; 4-9 WAC) will take a short Western Athletic Conference break for two games beginning with Houston Baptist (3-22) Thursday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. in the Thomas Assembly Center.
The Bulldogs are coming off a heart-breaking loss to New Mexico State Monday night. After trailing by 16 points with 4:44 left to play, the Bulldogs battled hard and had a 21-7 run to end the game before missing a shot at the buzzer.
HBU has lost two in a row; the Huskies' most recent loss came to Chicago State in overtime by a final score of 112-108.
Tech leads the all-time series 7-2, but has not played Houston Baptist in over three decades. The two teams last saw the hardwood together in Memorial Gym in the 1976-77 season when the Bulldogs bested the Huskies 96-77.
Junior Kyle Gibson leads all Bulldog scorers at 14.7 points per game and was named WAC Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 9-15. Gordon Watt's 18 points per game leads the Huskies. Houston Baptist is not affiliated with a conference this season as they are currently reclassifying to Division I.
The game will be broadcast live on KXKZ 107.5 FM with a live audio feed available at www.z1075fm.com.
A video feed can also be purchased for $4.99 by logging onto www.latechtv.com and clicking on the athletics link on the top right portion of the page. Fans can order the game starting one hour prior to tip off.
