Regular Season Finale for Bulldogs Saturday at Nevada

RUSTON, La. - On Saturday night Louisiana Tech will look to extended their winning streak to six games and wrap up the fifth seed in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament against Nevada at 9 p.m. CT in the Lawlor Events Center.

The Wolf Pack hold a 17-6 series lead and have won four straight against the Bulldogs including a 65-63 victory on Jan. 28.

After the 75-70 win at Fresno State on Thursday night, LA Tech is 16-14 on the season and 6-7 in conference play. The Bulldogs are currently tied for fifth place with Hawaii in the standings and holds the tiebreaker over the Rainbow Warriors.

Freshman Raheem Appleby paces Tech in scoring at 14.0 points per game. He has scored the fifth most points by a freshman in school history and needs nine more to reach 400 points for the season.

Senior Trevor Gaskins has raised his scoring average to 11.0 points per contest after a 15-point performance against the California-based Bulldogs. Sophomore Cordarius Johnson is also averaging double-figures at 10.0 points per game.

With his 11 rebounds on Thursday, junior Brandon Gibson is now averaging 4.6 rebounds per contest while Johnson is second on the team at 4.1 rebounds per game.

Freshman Kenneth Smith leads the team in assists with 4.3 per game while classmate Michale Kyser is third in the conference with 1.8 blocks per contest.

Nevada is 24-5 on the season and 12-1 in WAC play. They are 14-2 at home including a 5-1 mark in conference play with their lone conference loss coming against Idaho.



Deonte Burton (15.0 ppg), Malik Story (14.3 ppg), Olek Czyz (13.8 ppg) and Dario Hunt (10.2 ppg) are all averaging double-digits in scoring. Hunt and Czyz are the top rebounders on the team at 9.7 and 6.4 rebounds per game.

Hunt paces the WAC in blocks with 2.2 per contest while Burton leads the Wolf Pack in assists with 4.2 a game.
