Hamilton Named to C-USA All-Defensive Team

RUSTON – Another day and another honor for Louisiana Tech’s Alex Hamilton.
It was announced on Tuesday by the league office that the senior guard was named to the Conference USA All-Defensive Team, joined by Adrian Diaz (FIU), Brandan Stith (Old Dominion), Marcus Evans (Rice) and William Lee (UAB).
Hamilton anchored a LA Tech defense this season that forced a league-best 14.6 turnovers per game and is tops in steals per game with an average of 7.52, a category also ranks 45th in the country.
The Chipley, Florida native has totaled 64 steals so far this season, a career-best that also ranks fourth in program history. For his career, he has totaled 214 steals which ranks second in school history behind only his former teammate Kenneth Smith.
There have been six times, including the last two games, where Hamilton has swiped at least four steals while also holding seven opponents to under 60 points.
He is also tied for the third most blocks on the team with 15 and is second in defensive rebounding with 145.
The honor comes a day after Hamilton was named First Team All-Conference USA. Voting on the awards was done by the C-USA head coaches and media members in each conference city.
As the No. 4 seed in the C-USA Tournament set to take place in Birmingham, Alabama, the Bulldogs will face Old Dominion, UTSA or Florida Atlantic on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. inside Legacy Arena (BJCC) in the quarterfinals.
