March 22, 2017
RUSTON – The National Association of Basketball Coaches announced Wednesday that Louisiana Tech forward Erik McCree was selected to the Division I All-District 11 Team, voted on by member coaches of the NABC.
McCree was named to the five-person first team for the first time in his career. Last season, the Orlando, Florida native was a member of the second team.
He finished the season ranked sixth in the league in scoring with an average of 17.7 points per game while shooting a career-best from the field (48 percent), from three-point range (36 percent) and from the foul line (77 percent).
He is currently one of only four forwards in Division I basketball to have at least 200 made field goals, 50 made three-pointers and 125 made free throws.
McCree also ranked third in the league in rebounding with an average of 8.9 boards per game. He ended up posting 13 double-doubles, the fifth most by a Bulldog in the last 25 years.
District 11 is made up of all 14 Conference USA teams.
McCree became the eighth Bulldog since 2000 to receive NABC First Team All-District honors (Alex Hamilton, Kenneth Smith, Raheem Appleby, Kyle Gibson, Paul Millsap, Antonio Meeking and Gerrod Henderson).
Located in Kansas City, Missouri, the NABC was founded in 1927 by Phog Allen, the legendary basketball coach at the University of Kansas.
The NABC currently has nearly 5,000 members consisting primarily of university and college men’s basketball coaches.
