March 25, 2014
RUSTON - Louisiana Tech men's basketball head coach Michael White was announced on Monday as one of 15 finalists for the 2014 Skip Prosser Award.
The other finalists include Roman Banks (Southern University), John Becker (Vermont), Glenn Braica (St. Francis Brooklyn), Dick Hunsaker (Utah Valley), Tony Jasick (IPFW), Joe Jones (Boston University), Mike Krzyzewski (Duke), Paul Lusk (Missouri State), Phil Martelli (St. Joseph's), Randy Rahe (Weber State), Monte Ross (Delaware), Wayne Tinkle (Montana), Brian Wardle (Green Bay) and Jay Wright (Villanova).
Coach White has led the 2013-14 Bulldogs to a share of the Conference USA regular season championship and a runner-up finish in the C-USA Tournament. Now LA Tech is in the NIT quarterfinals for just the second time in program history while also amassing a program record-tying 29 wins.
The Skip Prosser Award was established in 2008 to honor those who not only achieve success on the basketball court but who display moral integrity off of it as well. Prosser posted a career record of 291-146 in 14 seasons as a head coach.
During his time at Wake Forest, his teams averaged 21 wins per season while playing in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The winner of the 2014 Prosser award will be announced at the CollegeInsider.com Awards Banquet on April 4 in Dallas, site of the Division I Men's Basketball Championship.
