RUSTON – The National Association of Basketball Coaches announced on Friday that Louisiana Tech’s Alex Hamilton and Erik McCree were selected to the Division I All-District 11 Team, voted on by member coaches of the NABC.
District 11 is made up of all 14 Conference USA teams. LA Tech, along with UAB and Middle Tennessee, led the way with two honorees apiece.
Hamilton was named to the five-person first team for the first time in his career. The past two seasons, the guard was a member of the second team.
The Chipley, Florida native finished the regular season ranked fourth in the league in points with an average of 20.0 per game while shooting 50 percent from the field. He also averaged 5.7 rebounds, a league-best 6.2 assists per game and 2.06 steals per game.
He ended up producing four 30+ scoring performances which tied for the most in the conference. Two of those came in the last two games of the regular season where he posted a career-high 38 points at Marshall, the most points scored by a Bulldog in a single game since Karl Malone in 1983, and followed that up with a 33-point effort at WKU.
The senior also registered just the third triple-double in program history (first since 1991) and only the 18th in C-USA history when he recorded 25 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists versus Rice in what was his final game inside the Thomas Assembly Center.
This honor adds to Hamilton’s long list of hardware this season – C-USA Player of the Year, First Team All-CUSA, C-USA All-Defensive Team member and USBWA All-District VII.
McCree was named to the first-person second team, the first such honor for the junior, adding to his other honor of being second team All-CUSA.
He finished the regular season averaging 16.5 points and a team-best 7.5 rebounds per game. He was one of only two players in the league to rank in the top eight in both points and rebounds.
The Orlando, Florida native posted a team-high eight double-doubles on the season, tied for the fifth most in C-USA. He also had 10 games of 20+ points, one of which was a career-high 33 points in a win over regular season champion UAB.
