Appleby Named WAC Player of the Year by

RUSTON, La. – Freshman guard Raheem Appleby was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year by on Wednesday.

He was selected by a survey of Division I college basketball coaches and sports information directors from across the country.

Appleby averaged 13.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game for the season. He also made 47.0 percent of his field goal attempts, placing him 105th in the nation.

The award adds to the honors that Appleby has earned this season as he was named Freshman of the Year, second team all-conference and to the all-newcomer team by the WAC. Appleby was also picked by as the WAC Freshman of the Year.
