RUSTON – After a stellar career at Louisiana Tech, Alex Hamilton has been chosen to participate in the 2016 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament.

The guard was one of 64 seniors invited from across the nation to participate in a four-day, twelve-game tournament in front of representatives from all 30 NBA teams in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Hamilton recently wrapped up one of the best seasons and best careers in program history.

He finished the 2015-16 season averaging 19.8 points per game while tallying 654 total points, fourth most in school history. He also averaged a team-best 6.2 assists per game and 1.97 steals per game which ranked 15th and 33rd in the country, respectively.

The Chipley, Florida native went on to become the all-time winningest Bulldog in program history with 106 wins while also becoming the first player ever to rank in the top five in careers points, assists and steals.

Along the way, he helped garner three conference regular season titles while making four trips to the postseason.

Hamilton is one of four players from Conference USA (James Kelly of Marshall, Trey Freeman of Old Dominion and Adrian Diaz of FIU) and one of two players from the state of Louisiana (Shawn Long of Louisiana-Lafayette) invited to the tournament that features the nation’s top college seniors.

Now in its 63rd year, the PIT has been a showcase for five of the 50 greatest players in NBA History (Rick Barry, Earl ‘The Pearl” Monroe, Dave Cowens, John Stockton and Scottie Pippen) and for many others who have gone on to NBA stardom including Chicago’s Jimmy Butler, Toronto’s DeMarre Carroll and Portland’s Wesley Matthews.

The tournament begins Wednesday, April 13 and runs through Saturday, April 16.
